SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Grade Five! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer. I have already begun to hear about some of your great adventures J. I am very excited to begin the school year and look forward to getting to know everyone. This year, I have also taken on the role of acting vice principal at Katzie. During the times that I am not in the classroom Ms. Renee Hardie is your child’s teacher. She will be teaching them primarily Social Studies and French.
I will continue to keep in touch either through chats at the door, e-mail, planner, notices, and phone calls. I encourage you to contact me if you have any immediate concerns regarding your child. Currently we are focusing on routines and behavior expectations in order to get off to a good start. Please spend a moment reading the attached list of the ABCs of our classroom and the “Great Expectations”.
If you have anything interesting to share with the class please let me know. Please take a few moments to complete the “student profile’ attached and return it to the school.
Please encourage your child to spend time reading while you listen to them. Also reading to them is another important part of the reading process. Children should be practicing their reading for at least 30 minutes each day.
Our school is now using an online payment system for all fees. Please set up your online payment at https://surreyschools.schoolcashonline.com.
Your child recently received a planner. In order to cover the cost of $4 please pay online. Thank you to those who have already paid.
Please check the class website for additional information. https://mschalmersclass.weebly.com. It will be updated with our schedule shortly.
I look forward to a fun year working with you to ensure that your child is happy and growing in their knowledge.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Ms. Darla Chalmers
